Jazz concerts at the ‘Sitgestiu’ festival

There are two unique jazz concerts taking place in Sitges this month, as part of the Sitges Museums ‘Sitgestiu’ cultural festival that runs until the end of August.

This evening, Wednesday 16 August, there is a concert being held outside in the Racó de la Calma (main photo), in celebration of the town’s Festa Major.

The performance will offer a very special take on the musical compositions that form part of the popular culture of Sitges, such as the dances in the town’s festival and the works of composers such as Enric Morera, Gabriel Pallarès and Manel Torren, all with a variety of rhythms ranging from jazz and swing to traditional music.

Starting at 8pm, with the ‘Retrio’ band featuring Òscar Ferret (piano), Josep Pinyu Martí (drums) and Joan Pinós (double bass), tickets are €12 and include a glass of Cygnus Albireo cava. Click here for tickets.

Meanwhile on Tuesday 29 August, the same band will be performing again inside the Cau Ferrat museum itself, ‘Jazz al Cau’, with tickets priced at €12 and again including a glass of cava. Click here for tickets for 29 August.

In its 25th anniversary, the ‘Sitgestiu’ festival offers over 30 events and activities that mix music, opera, jazz, family workshops, film screenings, sensory experiences, wine tasting dinners as well as many guided heritage and art tours, among others – and with many events also being offered in English.
