The current peak of recorded infections for a 24-hour period in Spain was on 31 March, when 9,222 new cases were registered.

The Spanish Health Minister Salvador Illa, appearing before the government’s Health & Consumer Commission to update on the Coronavirus pandemic, said that there were now 412 active clusters of the virus in Spain – 51 more than on Tuesday.
The health minister said that citizens should ‘learn to relate to one another in a different way’ by ‘controlling our circle of contacts’ and ‘trying to relate to stable groups’.
‘We must not lose respect for the virus,’ said Illa. ‘And when we are not with cohabitants, we must wash our hands, wear a mask and keep our distance. If we reduce the number of contacts, the risk of contagion is also lower.’
Situation in Catalonia
Changes to restrictions
Catalonia has now lifted confinement measures put in place in the city of Lleida and six other towns in the Segrià county – Alcarràs, Aitona, la Granja d’Escarp, Seròs, Soses and Torres de Segre. Travel restrictions will no longer be in place from Thursday at 4pm.
Shops will also be able to open again at 50% capacity, as well as bars and restaurants – but with clients only allowed to sit in outdoor areas – and they will still have to close by midnight. Gatherings of over 10 people remain prohibited.

Meanwhile, the High Court of Catalonia has permitted cinemas, gyms, and sports facilities in areas with health restrictions to re-open, provided that they comply with the health measures indicated by the Civil Protection (Procicat).
Nightclubs must still remain closed, while the limits placed on bars and restaurants also stay in place.
