Sitges Carnival reconfirmed by Catalan civil protection plan (PROCICAT)

Sitges Town Council and the Department of Health of the Catalan government have held a meeting at which the celebration of the 2022 carnival has been reconfirmed. In the end, it is expected that everything will go ahead as previously planned and that the situation of the Covid pandemic will evolve favourably over the coming weeks.

Therefore, the programming proposal that had been designed to adapt to the current situation is being maintained, with the implementation of the mandatory use of a face mask for the Carnival’s participants, capacity limits to the different events, as well as the modification of the usual route of the street procession, among other measures.

One of the differences this year will be the decrease in participants for the street procession, with some deciding not to take part due to the current pandemic situation. Entities that have chosen to abstain from participating will not lose their place and will be able to do so again in 2023, as usual.

Sitges 2022 Carnival begins on 24 February, which will be Maundy Thursday, and will end on Wednesday 2 March.
