The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Wednesday 2 February for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 10,125,348. This is an increase of 86,222 against Tuesday’s figure. Tuesday had seen an increase of 40,133 over Monday.

The incidence rate across Spain has fallen 130 points to 2,564 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Tuesday it was 2,694 and Monday 2,879. See below for the incidence rate for each region.

The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged 11 and under, at 4,872. It has fallen for all age groups since yesterday’s data. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 4,872 (previously 5,156)
  • 12-19 years – 3,330 (3,474)
  • 20-29 years – 2,238 (2,345)
  • 30-39 years – 3,314 (3,490)
  • 40-49 years – 3,110 (3,275)
  • 50-59 years – 1,585 (1,688)
  • 60-69 years – 1,225 (1,266)
  • 70-79 years – 1,244 (1,283)
  • Aged 80 and over – 1,651 (1,698)

There have now been 1,215,081 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 10,125,348. The figure for the past 7 days is 452,821

There are currently 17,441 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 18,087), representing a 13.96% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (14.52%). 2,010 are in intensive care (2,054), representing 21.34% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (21.71%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Wednesday 2 Feb is now 93,857 – an increase of 224 since Tuesday. The figures last Wednesday had shown 215 deaths in a 24-hour period.

Incidence rate per region

The incidence rate has dropped in all regions again, compared to yesterday’s data. The current incidence rate for each region on Wednesday 2 Feb is as follows:

  • 4,397 in Catalonia (previous incidence rate: 4,674)
  • 3,728 in Murcia (3,944)
  • 3,719 in the Valencia Region (3,808)
  • 3,718 in Aragón (3,914)
  • 3,615 in Cantabria (3,775)
  • 3,505 in Navarra (3,651)
  • 2,891 in Asturias (2,998)
  • 2,837 in the Basque Country (2,921)
  • 2,725 in Galicia (2,734)
  • 2,692 in Castilla y León (2,872)
  • 2,607 in Extremadura (2,749)
  • 2,569 in the Balearic Islands (2,698)
  • 2,096 in La Rioja (2,211)
  • 2,095 in Castilla La Mancha (2,208)
  • 1,398 in Madrid (1,480)
  • 1,104 in the Canary Islands (1,247)
  • 885 in Andalusia (952)
  • 3,161 in Ceuta (3,577)
  • 2,289 in Melilla (2,476)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 27 January) show that Spain has administered 89,717,860 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 38,283,540 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 80.8% of the total population. A further 20,952,039 ‘booster’ jabs have also been administered.
