Malvasia de Sitges receives more awards ahead of its 8th Wine Week

The Guia de Vins de Catalunya (Wine Guide of Catalunya) has presented Malvasia de Sitges with three awards.

Malvasia Dolça has been chosen as the best sweet wine in Catalunya; la Seca, as the best mellow wine and the Celler de l’Hospital de Sitges has been placed in 12th place among the 200 wineries presented.

Malvasia Dolça received 9.78 points out of 10, the highest rating among all Catalan sweet wines, which allowed it to achieve gold for the first time in the guide. Malvasia Seca was rated 9.74 for mellow wines, also achieving gold.

The evaluations of other wines from the Celler de l’Hospital have also been high: the Llegat Llopis obtained 9.65 and the Blanc Subur 9.63. The sum and average of all these ratings placed Celler de l’Hospital in 12th place out of 200 in all of Catalonia.

These awards come just a few weeks after other notable distinctions that Malvasia de Sitges wine received in the prestigious Brussels Competition, and a high score in the Robert Parker List, a world reference in wine evaluations.

The awards are a great prelude for the celebration of the eighth Malvasia Week in Sitges, taking place between 10-20 November

Malvasia Week includes fifteen events for the professional and amateur wine lover, and is the biggest Malvasia fair held so far in Sitges. There will be pairings with local gastronomy, tastings with the new generations of Malvasia wine producers, as well as unusual experiences like a perfume workshop inspired by Malvasia. There is also an experimental tasting of the first bottles of Blanc Subur that were submerged in the sea.
