The first new ‘chiringuitos’ are finally being installed on some of Sitges beaches

The first structures of the new chiringuitos (beach bars) have finally begun to be installed on some of Sitges beaches.

The concessionaires on the beaches of Les Anquines (Terramar) and Cala dels Gegants (in Els Colls) started to assemble their new bars from Thursday. The structures, made of wood, are already visible on both beaches and their managers plan to open them next week, taking advantage of the Sant Joan holiday (Friday 24 June).

The Sitges Town Council had planned to confirm three further licenses on Friday, including for Sant Sebastià and L’Estanyol beaches. This means 13 of the 21 licenses that have been put out to tender will have been awarded. The rest – which correspond to the most central beaches and also the most visited – are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.

Concessionaires normally need a minimum of four weeks to order and construct each bar. This could mean that some of the beaches in July will still be without them.
