The average transaction or ‘purchase receipt’ across all establishments in Sitges was 41 euros during the last week of September. This is 7 euros more than in the same week of 2020, which was 34 euros – an increase of 20.58%.
Provided by Banco Sabadell, the data is based on a study of card transactions from different businesses across the town. The average ‘purchase receipt’ is based on all payments made by credit card via national and foreign financial entities.
The increase from 34 to 41 euros in one year means an improvement in the spending capacity of local residents as well as of national and foreign visitors, as the average data is based on overall payment levels.
The increase in spending capacity in Sitges is significantly higher than in Sant Pere de Ribes, which in the same week of September was 27 euros, four less than that recorded a year ago (31). It is also considerably higher than that recorded in the city of Barcelona: 26 euros, just one euro more than a year ago.
The same data from Banco Sabadell also shows that the overall economic activity in Sitges increased by 53% percent in August, compared to the same month last year. The increase in July had been 17%.
