Refurbishment of promenade in Les Botigues of Sitges to start in January

The Paseo Marítimo of Les Botigues alongside Port Ginesta – on the Castelldefels side of the Sitges municipality – is to finally undergo a makeover.

The Sitges Town Council has created a new project to remodel the area, which has long been demanded by the neighbourhood. The work, which will renovate the entire 1.5-kilometre stretch of promenade, should begin in January 2023 and be completed in December 2024.

The new project replaces previous plans that had already become obsolete. In addition to addressing the part of the promenade alongside the public road, the new plan also focuses on the maintenance of natural spaces in the area, such as the dune system of the beach.

The project has the approval of the Catalan government’s Ministry for Ecological Transition, which will cover the cost of more than four million euros, and both administrations have promised to take it forward.

The Sitges Town Council will be in charge of a section next to the entrance to Port Ginesta that does not belong to the maritime public domain. The forecast is to also carry out this work during 2023.
