Sitges Council has opened a new, free car park in La Plana area

Sitges Town Council has opened about 10,000 m2 on municipal land in the ‘La Plana’ area of the town, specifically in Carrer del Mestre Manuel Torrents, to be used as a ‘deterrent car park’, with capacity for around 400 vehicles.

This is one of the actions derived from the council’s Mobility Plan, designed with the collaboration of residents. The council says it has detected a very high degree of involvement and satisfaction among the participants, although not everyone likes the proposals.

The local councillor for mobility, Jaume Monasterio, said that ‘the aim is to be able to leave the car at the entrance to Sitges and be able to enjoy the town on foot’, adding that ‘when cars are removed and a promenade is created, trade and the hospitality industry also benefit’.

The car park is marked with signs for the entrance and exit, and parking is free but unguarded. The council has said that this new location does not allow for camping or the installation of motorhomes. Maximum stay is 24 hours.
