Sitges to host two international women’s championships

It has been confirmed that Sitges will host two world-class women’s sporting events between 26 September and 3 October. They will be the Women’s World Chess Championship for Selections, which will be held at the facilities of the Casino Prado Suburense, and the Estrella Damm Ladies Open Golf, which will take place at the Terramar Golf Club.

The celebration of the Women’s World Chess Championship for Selections will be the first event organised by FIDE (International Chess Federation) to be held in Sitges. The town has in recent years become one of the European landmarks in the world of chess, thanks to the celebration of the International Chess Open at the Casino Prado and the Sunway Chess Festival.

In the case of the Estrella Damm Ladies Open Golf, it will be the fourth edition and will be held at the Terramar Golf Club between 1-3 October. The tournament is part of the Ladies European Tour and will bring together the best golfers on the circuit, who are expected to arrive in town on 27 September to train and carry out some pre-competition activities.
