Two more burglaries in the urbanisation of Els Cards

The urbanisation of Els Cards suffered two house burglaries over Easter. The neighbourhood had already reported their concern to the police in December, when they claimed there had been about 20 burglary attempts and forced entries in two months – although the Mossos d’Esquadra received only two reports.

Faced with this situation, the residents are asking to meet again with the local council and are already carrying other measures, such as citizen patrols at night that started last Friday.

The two robberies took place on Friday 29 March and Saturday 30 March. In the first, on Carrer Bosc, the thieves gained access through a window. On Saturday, on Carrer Heures, according to the neighbours, the thieves entered when the residents were in the house, and then fled at full speed in a car.

Residents of the neighbourhood are concerned and are demanding more security. The Mossos have said that patrols in the area have been resumed, which had been stopped after no more thefts had been reported since December. In addition, they said that Cards is a ‘quiet’ urbanisation and that sporadic burglaries at homes, especially during the holiday periods, are regarded as normal.

As for the council, it met with the neighbourhood at the beginning of February, and they tried to study the installation of licence plate recognition cameras. The neighbourhood’s residents have insisted that the agreements of the meeting be fulfilled, and want to create a follow-up committee.
