Countdown to the opening of the refurbished l’Escorxador in Sitges

The l’Escorxador building in Sitges (the old ‘slughterhouse’) is currently in the final stretch of its refurbishment, which means the future live arts venue will become a reality in just a few weeks time.

Last week’s presentation of La Pregonera cultural festival was also used to explain the latest developments of the venue, which could be inaugurated at the end of February or the beginning of March, if the deadlines of finishing the final touches of work are met, and which are being built in a specialised workshop.

The inauguration of the new venue will see a weekend of activities that will include a play, a dance piece and a family show, in addition to a previous open day so that the public can get to know the new space.

The refurbishment work started in December 2022 and the Sitges Town Council has invested nearly 800,000 euros so that the venue can host a small-scale cultural programme, and at the same time promote training in the performing arts.
