Mossos and Sitges local police carry out security patrol of nightlife venues

On Sunday night the Catalan police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, and the Sitges local police carried out a security patrol operation of the town’s nightlife areas, particularly in the Carrer Primer de Maig. The action was of a preventive nature and took place without incident, as part of the routine controls of the police forces.

Around 20 officers from the local police and the Mossos participated in the operation. Among the latter, there were members of the anti-riot squad, wearing helmets and their standard protective equipment. This in itself aroused special attention among many people who were in the street, who assumed there had been an incident. However, the agents limited themselves to checking the closing times of the bars and that there was no conflict whatsoever.

During the summer months, the Mossos carry out special preventive measures in Sitges and other tourist towns, with the aim of strengthening their presence on the street.
