Sitges Town Council offers financial aid for entrepreneurship & business creation

Sitges Town Council has launched a scheme for applying for financial aid for local entrepreneurship and business creation.

The aim is to encourage employment and support companies or self-employed people who decide to start their economic activity in the town. The economic activity must have started between 1 October 2021 and 31 July 2022. Applications can be submitted electronically until Monday 29 August.

Among the requirements, the economic activity and the tax domicile must be in Sitges. However, self-employed people or companies that have their tax domicile outside of Sitges but carry out their economic activity in a premises located within the municipality, and with the number of hired workers less than 12, can also opt for the aid. A business plan and a detailed economic-financial plan must be included with the applications.

The amount of the aid will be a maximum of €6,000. For economic activities carried out in the residential address of the entrepreneur, the maximum amount of the aid is set at €1,000.

The local councillor for economic promotion, Guillem Escolà, said: ‘During the pandemic we tried to help all companies and self-employed people, and now for 2022 we are focusing on two financial aids for entrepreneurs who start their business projects, to help them at the beginning, where there are more expenses. In addition, we want to support businesses that generate employment, new ideas, diversity and that make us grow economically. Soon we will also activate financial aid to promote quality hiring.’

Escolà said that ‘everyone who is a beneficiary of the aid will receive the money this same year’ and that ‘the two financial aids are not incompatible, so if you have started a business and, in addition, you have hired staff, you can opt for both grants’.

The economic promotion department of Sitges Town Council is allocating a total of 132,100 euros to promote the two financial aids for companies and freelancers dedicated to entrepreneurship and also to employment. The intention is to contribute to making it easier for workers to have fixed contracts and to help people who start out at the initial stage of the creation of new companies or businesses.

66,600 euros will be allocated for the promotion of recruitment and the improvement of employment, and a further 65,500 euros for the promotion of entrepreneurship and the creation of new companies.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday 29 August. Click here for full details of the requirements for applications. Click here for the application process.
