Man dies in Sant Pere de Ribes after falling off an electric scooter

A 38-year-old man, a resident of Sant Pere de Ribes, died on Saturday afternoon whilst driving an electric scooter in the centre of town.

The incident took place in the Carrer Eduard Maristany, between Carretera de Sitges and Carrer del Doctor Puig. The man reportedly fell on his own, without colliding previously with any other vehicle or pedestrian. Some eyewitnesses suggested that the origin of the fall could have been that the man was carrying a bicycle wheel between his legs, which could have made him lose his balance.

Due to the severe blow and skull injury, the victim died almost immediately. Local police and the Mossos d’Esquadra were quick to arrive at the scene, cordoning off the area, as well as the Emergency Medical Services, who were unable to do anything to save his life.
