Sitges Carnival unveils this year’s line-up and main events

The Sitges Carnival takes place from 24 February until 2 March, with a programme of exceptional events that will also feature the traditional and flamboyant processions throughout the streets of the town, with around 1,300 people participating alongside 34 floats.

This year there is also a ‘Carpa Jove’ marquee being set up on the Santa Barbara plain, with food trucks during the hours that activities are held there. Tickets will be numbered and sales prioritised to people participating in the processions. They can be purchased at culturasitges.cat and on the websites of the Casino Prado Suburense and El Retiro.

The activities that will take place in the Carnival marquee are:

  • Saturday 26 February – the ‘Ball del Fardo’, with free entry from 15h to 22h, to celebrate the end of the ‘Bed Race’, and with live music and DJs (Miquel del Roig, Angangas, La Prèvia, DJ Coba). Then from 23h until 5am, with DJs from Radio Sitges (tickets €12 in advance; €15 on door, to include one drink).
  • Sunday 27 February – after the Carnival procession, the ‘Festa de la Disbauxa’, from 23h until 5am, with DJ Toni Peret. Tickets at €12, €15 and €20, to include a drink.
  • Tuesday 1 March – after the Carnival procession, the ‘Festa de l’Extermini’, from 23h until 5am, with DJ Toni Peret. Tickets at €12, €15 and €20, to include a drink.

The popular highlights of the Carnival include the Fancy Dress Bed Race taking place throughout the town on Saturday 26 February from 12 noon.

The children’s Carnival processions take place on Sunday 27 February and Tuesday 1 March at 12 noon. The main processions take place on the same days, from 19h, all starting from Avinguda Sofia. Click here to download a PDF of the Carnival’s full programme.
