Long-awaited remodelling of Pia School in Sitges begins

The long-awaited renovation of the Escola Pia in Sitges is finally a reality.

Just after the end of the school year, the remodelling works of the building began, and which – if all goes according to plan – will end in the summer of 2027. The school has been waiting for a change for years, and discussions also took place during a long period about a possible transfer to new premises, until finally, two summers ago, the proposal to reform the current building, located on Carrer de l’Hort Gran, was established.

It has been a long-awaited project that, after all the negotiations, legal and permit processes, is slowly starting to take shape.

The works started once the school year ended, because the aim is to carry out the works during the summers, in phases, in order to ‘interfere as little as possible with the dynamics of the school’, stressed its director, Ramon Beringues.

Thus, in five years, and with a budget of 7 million euros – assumed by the Escola Pia de Catalunya – in the 2027-2028 school year, the centre should be opening the new building. However, the various improvements will be seen step by step.
