Sitges animals and nature association needs more volunteers

The ‘Friends of Animals and Nature Association’ in Sitges (L’Associació d’Amics dels Animals i de la Natura) is looking for volunteers to feed, offer shelters and provide financial resources to protect the local cat colonies.

The group looks after the welfare of the town’s animals and, among other things, is responsible for the care and feeding of the animals that live on the streets. In total, they manage 27 of the 40 colonies they estimate to be in the municipality.

Ester Bayot, a member of the Friends of Animals and Nature Association, said that what is most urgent are volunteers to feed and help manage the sterilisation process of the cats. Although the Sitges Town Council provides financial support and help in the care of these animals, from the association they say that ‘more agility and more volunteers are needed to support the volume of work involved’. In total, among all the colonies in the municipality, there are around 500 homeless cats. Volunteers can contact the association via email: aanssitges@hotmail.com.
