Man arrested in Sitges for alleged robbery with intimidation

The Sitges local police arrested a 40-year-old man on Tuesday, for alleged robbery with intimidation inside a supermarket on Avinguda Camí de la Fita. The alleged perpetrator was taken to the Mossos d’Esquadra police station in Vilanova i la Geltrú, from where he will be taken to appear in court.

On Monday afternoon, the man allegedly stole products from the same establishment and pulled out a knife to intimidate the person in charge of the supermarket. He was able to leave but then tried to return the next day, yet was not allowed to enter. A local police patrol received an alert for possible theft and went to the area, where minutes later the man was arrested.

Police were able to identify the alleged perpetrator, who was outside in the vicinity of the supermarket, thanks to images from the previous day’s robbery recorded by the shop’s security cameras.
