Average age of Covid cases in Sitges is 6 years higher than across Catalonia

The average age of those infected by Covid-19 in Sitges is six years higher than across the rest of Catalonia. The average age for positive cases in the town during the last week has risen to 37.4 years, whilst across the whole of Catalonia it has been 31.6.

The local average age has risen slightly during recent weeks after falling in early January due to the positive cases being registered at schools. The current average age of 37.4 is more than two years above last week’s 35.2. This increase is matched by a gradual decline in positive cases in the educational sector.

From mid-December, the new cases in Sitges began to be older than the Catalan average, but in January the difference increased to the current 6-year difference. In Sant Pere de Ribes they remain at the same levels as the Catalan average.
