The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Tuesday 1 February for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 10,039,126. This is an increase of 40,133 against Monday’s figure. Monday had seen an increase of 182,123 over Friday.

The incidence rate across Spain has fallen 185 points to 2,694 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Monday it was 2,879 and Friday 3,078. See below for the incidence rate for each region.

The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged 11 and under, at 5,156. It has fallen for all age groups since yesterday’s data. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 5,156 (previously 5,461)
  • 12-19 years – 3,474 (3,676)
  • 20-29 years – 2,345 (2,499)
  • 30-39 years – 3,490 (3,686)
  • 40-49 years – 3,275 (3,465)
  • 50-59 years – 1,688 (1,832)
  • 60-69 years – 1,266 (1,324)
  • 70-79 years – 1,283 (1,336)
  • Aged 80 and over – 1,698 (1,778)

There have now been 1,276,762 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 10,039,126. The figure for the past 7 days is 487,472

There are currently 18,087 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 18,735), representing a 14.52% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (15.05%). 2,054 are in intensive care (2,107), representing 21.71% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (22.28%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Tuesday 1 Feb is now 93,633 – an increase of 408 since Monday. The figures last Tuesday had showed 382 deaths in a 24-hour period.

Incidence rate per region

The incidence rate has dropped in all regions again, compared to yesterday’s data. The current incidence rate for each region on Tuesday 1 Feb is as follows:

  • 4,674 in Catalonia (previous incidence rate: 5,112)
  • 3,944 in Murcia (4,173)
  • 3,914 in Aragón (4,510)
  • 3,808 in the Valencia Region (4,015)
  • 3,775 in Cantabria (3,863)
  • 3,651 in Navarra (3,829)
  • 2,998 in Asturias (3,091)
  • 2,921 in the Basque Country (2,992)
  • 2,872 in Castilla y León (3,003)
  • 2,749 in Extremadura (2,855)
  • 2,734 in Galicia (2,840)
  • 2,698 in the Balearic Islands (2,787)
  • 2,208 in Castilla La Mancha (2,332)
  • 2,211 in La Rioja (2,288)
  • 1,480 in Madrid (1,581)
  • 1,247 in the Canary Islands (1,422)
  • 952 in Andalusia (1,020)
  • 3,577 in Ceuta (4,051)
  • 2,476 in Melilla (2,658)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 27 January) show that Spain has administered 89,717,860 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 38,283,540 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 80.8% of the total population. A further 20,952,039 ‘booster’ jabs have also been administered.
