The new Can Milà Visitor Care Centre in Sitges will be officially presented to the public during an Open Day on Saturday 11 December.
As part of the day, people visiting Can Milà will be able to take part in guided tours to discover the history, present and future roadmap of the new Sitges Tourism facility.
Visits include a Malvasia de Sitges wine tasting, organised by the Malvasia Interpretation Centre (CIM), and the chance to discover ‘The Wine Truck’ and its selection of Malvasia wines. There will also be lettering workshops for children from the age of 8, by La Tecla Estudi Creatiu, and live music with the Apocadixie Cotton Pickers in the morning and The Kojaks in the afternoon.
Can Milà – or Can Milà dels Ferrers – is the old 14th century ‘masia’ farmhouse located at the entrance to Sitges, now housing the new Visitor Service Centre. The space is surrounded by a green area and consists of two buildings: one for customer service and the other, in the Noucentista–style and designed by the architect Josep Maria Martino, which houses the Department of Tourism .
A project to recover the native flora and fauna is being carried out in the garden area, coordinated with Sitges Biodiversity. It is expected that in the coming days, local species will be planted and bird shelters and feeders will be installed for wintering birds, insects and bats. In addition at Can Milà, Malvasia de Sitges vines have been planted in a joint project to recover the space with the Malvasia Interpretation Centre and the Hospital de Sant Joan, as on the land the well-known Malvasia Robert was also previously produced.
Can Milà is at Av. Camí dels Capellans, 108-110, Sitges. The Open Day is on Saturday 11 December, from 10am to 2pm and from 3pm to 7pm. Guided tours will be set up in groups, in order of arrival, at 11.30am, 12.30pm, 4pm and 5pm. Lettering workshop for children from 8 years, at 12.30pm and 5pm.
