CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Monday 29 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,153,012. This is an overall increase of 22,911 against the figure released on Friday, of which 2,877 have been registered in the past 24 hours.
Friday had seen an overall increase of 9,258 over Thursday , of which 5,541 were registered in 24 hours.
The overall incidence rate across Spain has risen 28 points to 199.02 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Friday it was 171.68 and Thursday 160.15. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Extremadura at 84. It is at its highest in Navarra at 571. See below for the incidence rate for each region.
The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 325.The incidence rates per age group are as follows:
- Aged 11 and under – 325.59 (previously 274.06)
- 12-19 years – 107.21 (89.90)
- 20-29 years – 151.62 (130.65)
- 30-39 years – 201.01 (174.37)
- 40-49 years – 237.56 (204.01)
- 50-59 years – 178.95 (154.92)
- 60-69 years – 202.16 (173.06)
- 70-79 years – 162.02 (145.07)
- Aged 80 and over – 110.73 (103.10)
There have now been 94,438 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,153,923. The figure for the past 7 days is 54,010.
There are currently 3,780 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 3,385), representing a 3.05% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (2.73%). 673 are in intensive care (597), representing 7.33% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (6.50%).
The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Monday 29 Nov is now 88,008 – an increase of 53 since Friday.
Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate
Of the 2,877 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Monday 29 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:
- 637 in the Basque Country (current incidence rate: 446)
- 479 in Catalonia (263)
- 257 in Castilla y León (237)
- 244 in Aragón (348)
- 230 in the Canary Islands (175)
- 198 in Navarra (571)
- 145 in Galicia (187)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain
Latest figures (with data collated up to Sunday 28 November) show that Spain has administered 76,123,553 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 37,586,582 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 79.2% of the total population. A further 4,649,523 ‘booster’ jabs have also been administered.
