The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Thursday 25 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,121,100. This is an overall increase of 9,258 against the figure released on Wednesday, of which 5,541 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

Wednesday had seen an overall increase of 8,527 over Tuesday, of which 5,219 were registered in 24 hours

The overall incidence rate across Spain has risen 12 points to 160.15 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Wednesday it was 148.84 and Tuesday 139.10. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Extremadura at 70. It is at its highest in Navarra at 462. See below for the incidence rate for each region.

The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 252.The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 252.60 (previously 233.00)
  • 12-19 years – 82.93 (77.12)
  • 20-29 years – 122.35 (113.50)
  • 30-39 years – 163.89 (153.49)
  • 40-49 years – 188.98 (175.66)
  • 50-59 years – 144.85 (134.86)
  • 60-69 years – 161.10 (147.54)
  • 70-79 years – 138.43 (129.52)
  • Aged 80 and over – 98.45 (94.49)

There have now been 75,991 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,121,100. The figure for the past 7 days is 43,515

There are currently 3,273 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 3,172), representing a 2.63% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (2.56%). 571 are in intensive care (567), representing 6.22% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (6.13%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Thursday 25 Nov is now 87,931 – an increase of 27 since Wednesday.

Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate

Of the 5,541 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Thursday 25 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 758 in Catalonia (current incidence rate: 208)
  • 725 in the Basque Country (350)
  • 790 in Madrid (122)
  • 482 in Castilla y León (187)
  • 460 in Aragón (267)
  • 337 in Navarra (462)
  • 298 in the Canary Islands (150)
  • 334 in Galicia (133)
  • 413 in the Valencia Region (167)
  • 271 in Murcia (171)
  • 153 in Andalusia (82)
  • 194 in Asturias (105)
  • 102 in the Balearic Islands (211)
  • 64 in Extremadura (70)
  • 94 in Cantabria (119)
  • 39 in La Rioja (170)
  • 12 in Castilla La Mancha (92)
  • in Ceuta (73)
  • 12 in Melilla (129)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Tuesday 23 November) show that Spain has administered 75,377,077 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 37,567,042 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 79.2% of the total population.
