Over 1,500 downloads already for the ‘Compra a Sitges’ app

The ‘Compra a Sitges’ shopping app has already registered 1,535 downloads since its launch on 20 September.

To promote the launch of the app, the Sitges Town Council’s department of economic promotion is giving away 3,000 gift vouchers worth €20 each until the end of December to people who download the free app and make a minimum purchase of €40. So far, 807 gift vouchers have been handed out and there are currently 71 shops that have joined the app.

‘Compra a Sitges’ is a practical app that the town council launched as part of the campaign ‘Sitges, shopping that inspires’, with the collaboration of the Sitges Comerç Association, to promote local commerce and build customer loyalty through benefits and discounts.

The local councillor for economic promotion, Guillem Escolà, said: ‘One of the main lines of work of the council is to promote local commerce. That’s why we decided to go for an app where businesses could promote themselves together, distribute the commercial offers of the town from a single platform and at the same time offer advantages for customers. To get it started, we put out a public call for tenders in which only the Sitges Comerç association applied, and it is now in charge of managing it’.

Escolà has encouraged everyone ‘to download the app and to shop in Sitges’. During the first year of the app’s operation, Sitges Town Council will bear the costs to help with the implementation process.

Shopkeepers who want to join can send an e-mail to the Sitges Comerç association at: hola@sitgescomerc.cat.
