62-year-old man dies on La Barra beach in Sitges

A 62-year-old man sadly died after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the beach in Sitges on Saturday morning – the first death on the beach this year. A medical helicopter and several vehicles from the emergency services and police arrived at the scene on La Barra beach, right in front of the Sausalito bar, but they were unable to resuscitate the man.

The first fatality in 2021 on the beaches of Sitges has taken place at the end of the season, with the summer over. Just this week, the lifeguard company Pro-Activa, which is the one that has the concession in the town, had made a very positive assessment of the previous months, emphasising that no deaths had been registered and that they had been able to work ‘with more staff and a more decent salary’.
