Tourist occupation in Sitges reached 87% this summer

Hotels, apartments and campsites in Sitges recorded an average occupancy of 87% between June and September, according to data provided this week by the Sitges Hospitality Association. This is an increase of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2022, which was already considered positive by the sector.

The average number of nights for tourists who have come to Sitges this summer is 3.8. The total occupation between June and September represents, according to data from the Guild, 65% of the total in Sitges throughout the whole year. 35% is focused on congresses and conventions, as well as weekend stays and short holidays.

The data also showed that the sector has increased prices by 6%, while the interannual rate of the CPI has been 3.5%. However, the main price increase occurred in 2022, after the years of 2020-21, marked by the pandemic, had to be significantly reduced. The Guild indicated that additional spending by tourists, such as in restaurants and nightlife, had reduced this year.

The sector expressed moderate satisfaction with the data and has highlighted ‘the importance of maintaining products, services, promotion and brand image to retain and attract the customer with the highest purchasing power’.
