Sitges is becoming a guest participant in SCORE, the European observatory of climate change to manage the coast.
SCORE (Smart Control of the Climate Resilience in European Coastal Cities) was launched in July 2021 with the goal of increasing climate resilience in European coastal cities.
Sitges will join the SCORE European project as a guest, in order to participate and receive first-hand information about the findings of this observatory from the impact of climate change on the coasts.
The local Councillor for Environmental Action and Ecological Transition of Sitges Town Council, Carme Gasulla, met on Wednesday with the climate emergency councillor of Vilanova i la Geltrú, Iolanda Sànchez Alcaraz, to share information and actions that aim to protect and improve the local coastline.
Vilanova i la Geltrú is also one of the 10 municipalities of European members of the SCORE project that assesses climate change, with Sitges now also invited.
Councilor Gasulla said that ‘we will participate in the analysis of the data and this will will allow addressing problems related to climate change and more especially in terms of coastal management, where beaches and sand have one relevant role’.
