Sitges continues to be town with most expensive average property price in Catalonia

The podium for housing prices continues to be led by Sitges. In the last decade, no other municipality in Catalonia has exceeded the average price per square metre as far as residential property for sale in the town.

This figure for the first quarter of 2023, according to the main internet sites for the property sector – Idealista and Fotocasa – has reached €4,273 per square metre. This is a consolidated trend over time, with high prices, quite stable, but always on the rise.

In 2022, the average price of a home in Sitges was nearly half a million euros, according to data from the Secretariat of Housing of the Catalan government. These are prices that are practically unaffordable for the majority of the Sitges population, and which force them to move towards renting and which, in turn, put even more pressure on an already tense market. Last year’s average rent reached €1,096 – also according to data from the Secretariat of Housing.
