Figures for Sitges hotel occupancy in 2022 exceed expectations

2022 was a good year in terms of tourism figures for Sitges, especially in terms of occupancy of tourist accommodation and in the average price paid, which saw slight increases in summer and long weekend ‘puentes’.

Occupation of hotels and tourist accommodation in 2022 in Sitges was higher than in 2019 for the months of April-July, with occupancy peaking at 86.7% for the month of July, compared to 81.6% in 2019. It was also higher in December at 40.9% compared to December 2019 at 37.4%.

The average price paid for a double room in Sitges in the months of July and August 2022 was €153 and €167 respectively, compared to €133 and €139 in 2019.

The town has also enjoyed improvements in employment figures during the summer months, in relation to the pre-pandemic 2019.

The governing board of the Sitges Hospitality Guild met after Christmas to take stock of 2022 and to raise the new challenges that will mark the future of Sitges as a reference tourist destination in 2023. Oskar Stöber, president of the Guild, said that the year had started like the previous year, with the feeling that ‘people wanted to go out and do things again’, but like last year with the start of the war in Ukraine and the rise in the cost of living, it ‘was difficult to make predictions’.
