CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Friday 30 July for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 4,447,044. This is an overall increase of 24,753 against the figure released on Thursday, of which 12,989 have occurred in the past 24 hours

Thursday had seen an overall increase of 26,689 over Wednesday, of which 13,696 occurred in 24 hours. The peak of recorded infections for a 24-hour period during the pandemic in Spain was on 21 January, when 18,504 cases were registered.

The overall incidence rate has fallen for the third consecutive day, by nine points to 687.30 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Thursday it was 696.31 and Wednesday 699.84.

The incidence for each age group per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days is as follows:

  • Under 11 – 546 (yesterday 555)
  • Aged 12-19 – 1,524 (1,595)
  • Aged 20-29 – 1,653 (1,772)
  • Aged 30-39 – 817 (872)
  • Aged 40-49 – 434 (455)
  • Aged 50-59 – 339 (344)
  • Agend 60-69 – 322 (329)
  • Aged 70-79 – 199 (196)
  • Over 80 – 276 (272)

There have now been 326,127 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 4,447,044. The figure for the past 7 days is 143,405

There are currently 9,825 people requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 in Spain (9,725 yesterday), of which 1,698 are in intensive care (1,644 yesterday). This represents 18.31% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid-19 patients across Spain (17.71% yesterday). It is still at 44% in Catalonia (45%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Friday 30 July is 81,486 – an increase of 44 since Thursday.

Increase in infections per region

Of the 12,989 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours on Friday 30 July, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 3,736 in Madrid (last 24 hour increase was 3,769)
  • 1,776 in Catalonia (2,531)
  • 1,215 in the Basque Country (1,253)
  • 1,124 in Castilla y León (1,094)
  • 794 in the Canary Islands (845)
  • 771 in Aragón (899)
  • 716 in Galicia (829)
  • 674 in Andalusia (580)
  • 442 in Extremadura (504)
  • 381 in Navarra (400)
  • 371 in Murcia (532)
  • 347 in Asturias (372)
  • 260 in Cantabria (210)
  • 171 in La Rioja (175)
  • 142 in the Valencia Region (366)
  • 41 in Castilla La Mancha (56) 
  • in the Balearic Islands (277) – no update today
  • 12 in Ceuta (15)
  • 16 in Melilla (21)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (up to 30 July) show that Spain has administered 56,186,601 jabs of Covid-19 vaccines. 31,851,618 people have now received at least one jab, representing 67.1% of the total population. 26,933,847 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 56.8% of the total population.
