From 1 September, the toll gate at Vallcarca will incorporate a new system of discounts, which can reach 40% in the case of some users. The measure has been celebrated by the Catalan government and the town councils of the area, but at the same time it will be worse for some other users, precisely for the most loyal who will have to bear higher costs. Vehicles that go to Barcelona every day will have to pay around 50 euros more per month
This is the case of Sandra Goudinoff, a nurse who lives in Sitges and commutes to Barcelona every day for work reasons. Sandra said: ‘For four years I have had three different discounts: one for recurrence, one for going through the VIA-T and a bonus for driving a hybrid car.’ But now with the new tariff system her toll payments will increase from about 100 euros every month to 150.
