CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Wednesday 30 June for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 3,808,960. This is an overall increase of 9,227 against the figure released on Tuesday, of which 4,949 have occurred in the past 24 hours.

Tuesday had seen an overall increase of 7,091 over Monday, of which 3,911 occurred in 24 hours. The peak of recorded infections for a 24-hour period during the pandemic in Spain was on 21 January, when 18,504 cases were registered.

The overall incidence rate has jumped by 11 points to 117.17 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Tuesday it was 106.82 and Monday 100.06. The incidence rate is now over 150 in three regions: Andalusia (162), Cantabria (194) and Catalonia (182).

The incidence for each age group per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days is as follows:

  • Under 11 – 80.30
  • Aged 12-19 – 287.84
  • Aged 20-29 – 293.33
  • Aged 30-39 – 154.07
  • Aged 40-49 – 106.06
  • Aged 50-59 – 52.37
  • Agend 60-69 – 44.63
  • Aged 70-79 – 18.28
  • Over 80 – 23.08

There have now been 55,597 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 3,808,960. The figure for the past 7 days is 31,951

There are currently 2,375 people requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 in Spain, of which 601 are in intensive care. This represents 6.52% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid-19 patients across Spain. 

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Wednesday 30 June is 80,875 – an increase of 46 since Tuesday

Increase in infections per region

Of the 4,949 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours on Wednesday 30 June, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 2,080 in Catalonia (last 24 hour increase was 1,972)
  • 640 in Madrid (493)
  • 409 in Castilla y León (194)
  • 287 in the Canary Islands (198)
  • 269 in the Basque Country (147)
  • 217 in Andalusia (125)
  • 154 in the Valencia Region (112)
  • 153 in Aragón (68)
  • 140 in Asturias (66)
  • 127 in Extremadura (114)
  • 118 in Cantabria (142)
  • 89 in the Balearic Islands (74)
  • 79 in Galicia (67)
  • 78 in Murcia (53)
  • 65 in Navarra (41)
  • 31 in La Rioja (35)
  • in Castilla La Mancha (8) 
  • 1 in Ceuta (0)
  • 10 in Melilla (2)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (up to 30 June) show that Spain has received 45,248,682 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and that 41,279,995 jabs have been administered. 25,320,606 people have now received at least one jab, representing 53.4% of the population. 17,519,587 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 36.9% of the population.
