CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Tuesday 29 June for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 3,799,733. This is an overall increase of 7,091 against the figure released on Monday, of which 3,911 have occurred in the past 24 hours.

Monday had seen an overall increase of 10,179 over Friday, of which 1,632 occurred in 24 hours. The peak of recorded infections for a 24-hour period during the pandemic in Spain was on 21 January, when 18,504 cases were registered.

The overall incidence rate has increased by six points to 106.82 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Monday it was 100.06 and Friday 95.03. The incidence rate is over 150 in two regions: Andalusia (163) and Cantabria (179). It is now also at 251.06 for the 20-29 age group.

There have now been 50,687 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 3,799,733. The figure for the past 7 days is 27,420

There are currently 2,389 people requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 in Spain, of which 620 are in intensive care. This represents 6.73% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid-19 patients across Spain. 

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Tuesday 29 June is 80,829 – an increase of 40 since Monday

Increase in infections per region

Of the 3,911 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours on Tuesday 29 June, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 1,972 in Catalonia (last 24 hour increase was 684)
  • 493 in Madrid (115)
  • 198 in the Canary Islands (141)
  • 194 in Castilla y León (72)
  • 147 in the Basque Country (124)
  • 142 in Cantabria (109)
  • 125 in Andalusia (90)
  • 114 in Extremadura (48)
  • 112 in the Valencia Region (20)
  • 74 in the Balearic Islands (64)
  • 68 in Aragón (28)
  • 67 in Galicia (39)
  • 66 in Asturias (47)
  • 53 in Murcia (8)
  • 41 in Navarra (29)
  • 35 in La Rioja (12)
  • in Castilla La Mancha (0) 
  • 0 in Ceuta (1)
  • in Melilla (1)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (up to 29 June) show that Spain has received 45,248,682 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and that 40,565,038 jabs have been administered. 25,007,416 people have now received at least one jab, representing 52.7% of the population. 17,088,342 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 36% of the population.
