Join us for a special ‘Belgian Beer Tasting’ evening (plus tapas) at Lambicus

We’re launching a series of ‘Maravilla Food & Drink’ events, and to kick things off we’re having a special Belgian Beer Tasting evening at one of the best bars in Barcelona: Lambicus.

Lambicus is actually one of the best Belgian beer bars in Spain (or anywhere else, for that matter) – but they don’t just serve a fantastic selection of craft beers in a great atmosphere.

The art of tasting Belgian beer is officially a cultural experience – especially since UNESCO added the Belgian beer culture to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016.

The beer’s history stretches back centuries to medieval monks, and it has also been celebrated in numerous paintings and songs.

Known throughout the world for its wide array of tastes, from extremely sour to bitter, the very best Belgian beer can be found just a few steps from Avinguda Paral·lel in Barcelona.

Lambicus Bar is located in Carrer Tamarit 107 – with the Lambicus Shop also nearby in Carrer Rocafort 9 – two spots where you can enjoy the very best and most original references of Belgian beer, as well as share your passion for hops.

Lambicus Bar has been bringing the best Belgian beers to Barcelona and beyond for over five years, with ten rotating taps and over 150 different bottles regularly on offer – always served with a smile and delicious tapas, often with a Belgian touch.

It’s a great bar, with friendly, professional and helpful staff  – all happy to guide you on a huge choice of beers at modest prices, and in a cosy Belgian atmosphere.

The tasting room at the back is the perfect setting for all types of events – from tastings (of course) to stand-up comedy, recitals and much more.

The Lambicus beer tastings are professional, creative and original – and so if you want to know why Belgian beer is on UNESCO’s list, then join us for a fun evening on Thursday 25 July (see below for further details).

At the Lambicus Shop in Carrer Rocafort 9, open since the end of 2017, you’ll find more than 500 different types of beer, mostly Belgian. Indeed, they probably have the best selection of Belgian beers in Spain or even outside of Belgium.

Because they also promote local products that contribute to the culture of beer, however, they also have a good selection of Catalan beers.

They work mostly with artisanal producers and, despite having some of the best known brands, most of what they offer is based on little-known beers – and they also have organic products and gluten-free beers.

Lambicus also sell online though www.belgasonline.com and they even have a monthly subscription plan, called Club Lambicus (www.clublambicus.com), where you receive 12 new beers sent to your home every month.

Maravilla Food & Drink

The evening will start at 8pm and last approximately two and a half hours, during which we will learn about (and taste!) one of the oldest brewing traditions on the planet.

We will taste 5 beers of different styles as we learn about their characteristics, history, ingredients – as well as how to serve them – and all accompanied by some Belgian gastronomic delights.

The event takes place on Thursday 25 July, from 8pm – and the price is just €29 to include 5 different beers and 5 tapas. Numbers are limited, so click here to register and reserve your place – and we’ll see you there! You can also click here for further details of the event on Facebook.
