Spotlight: Three appetising experiences at three wineries in Penedès, Catalonia

Jardí Restaurant El Celleret at the Torres Winery

In the emblematic Mas La Plana estate, in Pacs del Penedès, next to the Torres winery, the Jardí Restaurant El Celleret opens onto the vineyard and surrenders to the spectacular views of the mountain of Montserrat, soaking up light and nature. Here the binomial wine and gastronomy takes on a new dimension, creating an elegant and welcoming space where you can enjoy a food and wine experience with all five senses. Its chef, Sergi Millet, offers a gastronomic proposal at the service of wine, to create the best aromas.

Opened in 2019, the Jardí Restaurant El Celleret prepares Mediterranean and market cuisine, based on fresh local products of the best quality, put at the service of wine. They have an organic garden and a corral with hens and roosters from Penedès, in a clear defence of sustainability and respect for the land and the environment, which permeate all their wine projects.

The restaurant combines tradition and modern preparation techniques to capture the landscapes of the Penedès on the plate and create a healthy proposal, delicately made to enhance textures and aromas. Dishes designed to enjoy life with a glass of wine in hand, surrounded by nature and unbeatable views. In El Celleret all the wines made by Familia Torres around the world are available, many of them by the glass.

In addition to being able to enjoy lunch or dinner, on weekends, El Celleret is an ideal place to enjoy an aperitif or a glass of wine at sunset, since on weekends during the summer you can also enjoy live performances.

Throughout the summer season it offers dinners on Fridays and Saturdays with live music. You can see the schedule of the performances on El Celleret’s Instagram account. Click here for El Celleret Menu. Click here for bookings.

Jean Leon Wine Bar

Jean Leon – the iconic small winery of Penedès in Catalonia – is once again opening the doors of its Wine Bar, located in its winery in Torrelavit, with a renewed menu for aperitifs and pairings. It’s a unique space that offers visitors a relaxed atmosphere and exceptional views over the vineyards, to enjoy wine without haste, in the middle of nature. Here, you can taste all Jean Leon’s wines by the glass, from the emblematic estate wines (Vinya Gigi, Vinya Palau, Vinya Le Havre and Vinya La Scala), to his most recent releases or experimental wines, accompanied by delicious dishes.

Open every Saturday and Sunday, from 12pm to 3pm, the Jean Leon Wine Bar menu includes pickle and preserve dishes, local sausage and cheese boards with bread with tomato, and some more elaborate dishes such as potatoes with brava sauce,  cod fritters, Russian salad or beetroot hummus.

The Jean Leon Wine Bar is an ideal alternative to crown the visit and the wine tourism experiences offered by the Penedès winery or simply to enjoy a moment of leisure during the weekend. Currently, the winery offers visits every weekend that end with a pairing of five wines and five cheeses, as well as other more personalised experiences such as ‘Make your own wine’ or ‘Heritage Wine Experience’, a visit and tasting with a tour of six great Jean Leon wines through time.
