The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Friday 4 March for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 11,100,428. This is an increase of 122,904 against last Friday’s figure.
The incidence rate is now 463 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days – a decrease of 150 since last Friday’s figure of 613. The figure on Friday 18 February was 919. The highest recorded incidence rate in Spain throughout the entire pandemic was 3,418 on Friday 21 January. See below for the current incidence rate for each region.
The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged 12-19, at 727. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:
- Aged 11 and under – 415 (figure last Friday: 664)
- 12-19 years – 727 (938)
- 20-29 years – 597 (752)
- 30-39 years – 507 (667)
- 40-49 years – 481 (649)
- 50-59 years – 375 (472)
- 60-69 years – 317 (401)
- 70-79 years – 344 (437)
- Aged 80 and over – 469 (611)
There are currently 5,693 people hospitalised for Covid-19 (last Friday 7,248), representing a 4.59% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (5.84%). 851 are in intensive care (last Friday 1,053), representing 9.31% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across the country (11.38%).
The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Friday 4 March is now 100,413 – an increase of 1,003 since last Friday’s figure of 99,410.

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain
Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 3 March) show that Spain has administered 92,774,397 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 38,443,970 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 81.1% of the total population. A further 24,215,926 ‘booster’ jabs have also been administered.
