2022 promises to be a year full of culture in Sitges

Sitges has kicked off 2022 with high hopes in terms of culture. With the last two years marked by the pandemic, resulting in the cancellation or adaptation of many cultural activities, this year there is a more optimistic forecast for a gradual return to normality.

This week at an event at the Santiago Rusiñol Library, La Pregonera was presented, the cultural programme that is organised annually by the Town Council’s department of culture in collaboration with entities and groups in the town, and with a total of 42 cultural activities for all audiences.

The Pregonera of 2022, as Xavier Salmerón, local councillor for culture, pointed out, ‘has the will to give a voice to female artists, as well as an artistic programme that aims to address issues of social dissemination such as transsexuality, eating disorders, mental health, immigration or dependency’.

At the same time, it aims to be a showcase for emerging local artists with the exhibitions of Anna Sella and Edgar Duch. The main exhibition will be ‘From Immigrants to Sitgetans’ that will take shape as a travelling format in different neighbourhoods.
