Sitges woman gives birth at the door of her house

A few weeks ago, Lívia de Mata, a pregnant woman of almost 39 weeks and a resident in Sitges, felt a certain discomfort when getting up and, together with her partner, Jordi Marzal, they decided that it was time to leave for the hospital, although the birth was actually scheduled for the next day. But they didn’t make it to the hospital in time.

First of all, Jordi took his eldest son to school and informed the rest of his family that they were going to Barcelona. However, just as they were about to leave the building, Lívia’s water broke as soon as she got out of the elevator and she noticed how the baby girl, Laia Victòria, was starting to arrive.

The girl appeared with the umbilical cord wrapped twice around her neck, and they solved it themselves with the help of a woman of French nationality, who immediately helped the couple.

Police and health services soon arrived, after their father urgently contacted them. Mother and baby were then taken to hospital, where the umbilical cord was cut and placenta removed.

On Tuesday, Lívia, Jordi, and their son, Jordi Marzal de Mata, were the protagonists of Tot es mou, the TV3 programme presented by Helena Garcia Melero, and where they presented the new member of the family, Laia Victòria.
