A safe path to Agnès School in Sitges is a step closer

The Image and Public Highways Department of Sitges Town Council has installed bollards on the sidewalks to define the crossing between the Agnès School and the Pins Vens sports area.

This is the first action towards the creation of a safe path for students of the school, who now have to travel by bus to do the activities in the sports area of Pins Vens and the Municipal Swimming Pool. The management of the school are satisfied with this first action, but they claim that there is still a section, that goes from the old Aquatic Park to the roundabout at the school’s entrance, which is not yet safe

Albert Oliver-Rodés, local councillor for education, said that this action ‘is a first step and marks the line we want to follow in the future in protecting access to schools’. He added that ‘a completely safe road requires the installation of more protective elements for pedestrians’.

Vinyet Llamas, director of the centre, said that ‘we have asked for bollards in this section that we consider unsafe’ and that ‘as soon as we see that the whole path is safe, we will abandon using the bus by the students from 3rd Primary and get round to walking’.
