K-pop – an Anglo-Saxon abbreviation of Korean popular music – is one of the most emerging musical genres around the world.
With BTS as their flagship group, their style has crossed borders and continues to attract new fans. One of the newly created bands, which already has over one million followers on Instagram, is NCT Wish, based in Tokyo.
The group has been in Catalonia this week to record one of the video clips for their new album Wish for Our Wish. As well as visiting Barcelona and Girona, they stopped off in Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes, two locations that they had ‘fallen in love with’ in their search for a beach location, a place with an ornamental fountain and other sites. That is why the scenes were filmed in La Fragata, in Plaça Marcer and on the road surrounded by cypress trees that leads to the Mas Solers estate.
The arrival of NCT Wish has generated interest not only among followers of this Asian musical genre, but also among passers-by, who have witnessed with curiosity a procession of over 100 people and twenty large vehicles.
The filming, which took place between Wednesday and Thursday, was managed by Node Film Clúster, which estimates that it will have contributed around 6,000 euros in Sitges and Ribes between the payment of fees and expenses in commercial establishments. Music videos account for around 20% of all audiovisual productions recorded in the territory.
