During the past few days, there have been various sightings of wild boars in the Poble Sec district of Sitges. These sightings have mostly been during night-time, although there have also been some during the day.
Plaça Catalunya, Parc dels Garrofers, and the pine forest of Espai Jove have been the places with the most sightings.
The presence of wild boars has become increasingly frequent in recent years, due to the growing population of these animals in the Garraf massif. Their arrival in Sitges is no longer an unusual occurrence but is becoming more common, especially in residential areas such as Quint Mar and occasionally Levantina and Vallpineda.
This past Wednesday evening, one wild boar was seen calmly roaming in the pine forest of Espai Jove, behind the municipal swimming pool. There was a group of young people nearby, but this didn’t seem to bother the animal.
On Saturday night, another was seen entering the children’s playground in Plaça Catalunya, and on Sunday, there were two of these animals in Parc dels Garrofers, also at night.
