The Mayor of Sitges, Aurora Carbonell, has issued a short statement on social media, stressing her return to normal activity after the police operation last week at the Town Hall to investigate allegations of irregularities with the ‘Third Sector Table’.
Carbonell thanked the messages of support that she has received since last week, many of which said that the police action was disproportionate and unnecessary, claiming that it was an investigation that could have been resolved with a summons.
She pointed out in her message that ‘we live the moment with tranquility, with a desire to give the necessary explanations when appropriate and possible, and with a desire for transparency’.
Until a declaration is made in the courts, however, for which there is no date yet, the mayor said she will not make any further public statement on the matter.
Carbonell stressed that ‘these days we are returning to work as normal to make Sitges a better place to live, to meet the needs of citizens and work for everyone’.
Gràcies a totes i tots per les mostres de suport. Amb tranquil·litat i amb ganes de donar les explicacions necessàries quan pertoqui. Seguim! pic.twitter.com/uYM1hY1bZS

Opinions about the ‘disproportionate police operation’ to investigate the complaint about justifying subsidies to the Third Sector Table have been constant and from all political groups. The former Ciutadans (Cs) councillor, the lawyer Manu Rodríguez, said that the investigation could have been resolved with a subpoena, and that a ‘media show wasn’t necessary’. The Bar Association of Barcelona has also made comments in the same vein.
No era necesario el show mediático, con una citación habría bastado. https://t.co/rUKGjoejSC
