L’Eco de Sitges prepares three electoral debates open to the public

L’Eco de Sitges newspaper is again organising, as it did four years ago, three sessions of electoral debates open to the public on the occasion of the municipal elections that will take place on 28 May. All three debates are open free of charge to L’Eco readers and the general public.

Two of the debates will be in Sitges, while the third will be in Sant Pere de Ribes. The two dates planned for Sitges are on Monday 15 May at the La Sitgetana brewery and on Monday 22 May at the Pic Nic restaurant.

The format for Sitges debates will be the same as in 2019: two-way debates, 25 minutes long and on three general issues of the town that the candidates will only be told on the day. The pairings of the 13 candidates have been based on criteria of political representation and local interest.

For the Ribes debate, to be held on Friday 19 May at the Josep-Lluís Palacios Room in Casa de la Vila, the nine candidates (‘list leaders’) will participate simultaneously.

There will also two further days of debate, on 16 and 17 May. The first, organised by the Guild, will be at the Meliá hotel and will be divided into two: first, the parties that do not currently have councillors, and then those that are already represented in the local council. The following day, 17 May, the thirteen candidates will meet face to face in the Ràdio Maricel studios, which can also be followed live on Canal Blau.
