The Retiro’s lounge-theatre refurbishment project in Sitges continues. The team of the Societat Recreativa El Retiro responsible for carrying out the project has begun to make visits to other theatres in Catalonia that have been recently refurbished, with the aim of seeing examples of other proposals.
On Monday they were at the Teatre La Massa in Vilassar de Dalt and a few weeks ago, they visited Casal del Bruc and will soon do so with Teatre Principal d’Olot.
La Massa is a theatre listed as a Cultural Property of National Interest and was renovated twenty years ago. This and other similar spaces allow the team driving the refurbishment work to assess various remodellings that can be adapted to the case of the Retiro. The Sitges theatre hall also received visitors from a company that measure interior noise levels, and based on the completion of the work to be carried out.
Meanwhile, El Retiro will be hosting the pre-Carnaval discussions this weekend. On Saturday, it will be the turn of the debate ‘A Carnival in Sitges without commission, can it work?’, with the participation of Sílvia Peñas, Isaac Bielsa, Eva Martín and local councillor David Martínez. On Sunday, the Sitges Carnaval will be discussed: ‘Entities, groups and the public; different models?’, with Xavi Alemán, Sandra Rubí, Gabri González and Laura Busquet.
