A three-way agreement has been reached between the Tutusaus family, the Sitges Town Council and the ‘La Plana i Santa Bárbara Compensation Board’ to preserve, for at least another 10 years, the last agricultural land in the La Plana area of Sitges.
This is a space of 1.1 hectares, close to Santa Bárbara’s hermitage and the new Sabatic Hotel, and which includes a farmhouse and a farming area – where the Caverdós family still work – with malvasia vineyards and vegetable gardens.
After mediation between the local department of urban planning and urban spaces and the family that owns the land, who are in favour of not developing their plot, and the Compensation Board, which has agreed to a ‘more measured, planned’ development and ‘prolonged in time’ for now, the new agreement will be valid for a decade.
After this period, the agreement can be revised with a commitment that it will be the family who bears the cost of building access roads that have also been postponed.
