Three beaches in Sitges will remain without ‘chiringuitos’ this summer

Three beaches in Sitges will remain without ‘chiringuito’ beach bars this summer – La Barra (Ponent), La Barra (Llevant) and Balmins beach.

The Sitges Town Council has stated that for ‘technical reasons’ and differences in appraisal criteria between technicians and legal bodies, the three remaining lots that were yet to be decided will remain without bars throughout the summer.

The council will now be issuing a new set of clauses for granting the licences for these three lots, with the aim for services to commence there from Easter week 2023

During a visit last week by the mayor and local councillor for beaches to the chiringuitos that have finally been set up in Sitges, the new concessionaires expressed their satisfaction with the opportunities ahead, but all acknowledged that the structural designs of the beach bars are not definitive, and that they will need to be improved in Spring 2023 to replicate the exact projects presented in the bidding process. You can click here for the Sitges Council’s guide to its new ‘beach use plan’ and see the plan of services for each beach.
