Another wildfire has started in the Garraf park

Another wildfire broke out in the early afternoon of Tuesday near Can Pere la Plana, in the Garraf park and the municipality of Sant Pere de Ribes. This is the second fire in a few days in the park, after the one that affected the area of Can Suriol, in Olivella, during Saturday.

A large column of smoke rising from the flames was visible from Sitges. Several fire engines, including a helicopter, were pouring water onto the fire during Tuesday afternoon. Units of the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Sant Pere de Ribes Local Police, the Guardia Civil, as well as rural agents and the ADF have also been deployed. Several vehicles from the Sitges Local Police have entered the park from Mas Alba to control access roads.

By 5pm on Tuesday, the fire had destroyed about four hectares of forest. The fire is located near the area known as Font Codina. According to the Sant Pere de Ribes Town Council, the fire is not near any homes.
