The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Tuesday 15 February for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 10,707,286. This is an increase of 34,380 against Monday’s figure. Monday had seen an increase of 68,706 over Friday.

The incidence rate across Spain has fallen 102 points to 1,142 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Monday it was 1,244 and Friday 1,461. The highest recorded incidence rate in Spain throughout the entire pandemic was 3,418 on Friday 21 January. See below for the current incidence rate for each region.

The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged 11 and under, at 1,604. It has fallen for all age groups since yesterday’s data. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 1,604 (previously 1,811)
  • 12-19 years – 1,676 (1,809)
  • 20-29 years – 1,265 (1,344)
  • 30-39 years – 1,331 (1,466)
  • 40-49 years – 1,268 (1,395)
  • 50-59 years – 773 (826)
  • 60-69 years – 666 (717)
  • 70-79 years – 710 (760)
  • Aged 80 and over – 1,034 (1,107)

There are currently 11,438 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 12,170), representing a 9.21% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (9.80%). 1,459 are in intensive care (1,525), representing 15.64% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (16.34%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Tuesday 15 Feb is now 96,906 – an increase of 310 since Monday.

The current incidence rate for each region on Tuesday 15 Feb is as follows:

  • 1,790 in Galicia (previous incidence rate: 1,869)
  • 1,669 in Murcia (1,861)
  • 1,605 in the Valencia Region (1,783)
  • 1,602 in Cantabria (1,809)
  • 1,519 in Aragón (1,640)
  • 1,479 in Catalonia (1,668)
  • 1,396 in Extremadura (1,492)
  • 1,384 in Navarra (1,497)
  • 1,273 in Castilla y León (1,378)
  • 1,266 in Asturias (1,359)
  • 1,216 in the Basque Country (1,330)
  • 1,164 in the Balearic Islands (1,263)
  • 1,133 in La Rioja (1,150)
  • 859 in Castilla La Mancha (961)
  • 835 in Madrid (883)
  • 544 in the Canary Islands (555)
  • 511 in Andalusia (539)
  • 906 in Ceuta (1,003)
  • 776 in Melilla (846)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 10 February) show that Spain has administered 91,411,886 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 38,372,822 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 81.0% of the total population. A further 23,184,245 ‘booster’ jabs have also been administered.
