The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Thursday 10 February for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 10,555,196. This is an increase of 53,055 against Wednesday’s figure. Wednesday had seen an increase of 62,839 over Tuesday.

The incidence rate across Spain has fallen 126 points to 1,566 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Wednesday it was 1,692 and Tuesday 1,893. The incidence rate had reached its highest figure during the entire pandemic of 3,418 on Friday 21 January. In less than three weeks it has now fallen by almost half. It has decreased 855 points in one week, since last Thursday’s figure of 2,420. See below for the incidence rate for each region.

The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged 11 and under, at 2,531. It has fallen for all age groups since yesterday’s data. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 2,531 (previously 2,795)
  • 12-19 years – 2,201 (2,354)
  • 20-29 years – 1,564 (1,657)
  • 30-39 years – 1,901 (2,088)
  • 40-49 years – 1,805 (1,975)
  • 50-59 years – 1,000 (1,061)
  • 60-69 years – 865 (916)
  • 70-79 years – 907 (957)
  • Aged 80 and over – 1,263 (1,312)

There have now been 742,512 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 10,555,196. The figure for the past 7 days is 269,861

There are currently 13,623 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 14,440), representing a 10.92% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (11.58%). 1,633 are in intensive care (1,700), representing17.41% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (18.12%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Thursday 10 Feb is now 95,606 – an increase of 393 since Wednesday. The figures last Thursday had shown 183 deaths in a 24-hour period.

The current incidence rate for each region on Thursday 10 Feb is as follows:

  • 2,371 in Cantabria (previous incidence rate: 2,583)
  • 2,366 in Murcia (2,599)
  • 2,337 in Catalonia (2,571)
  • 2,206 in the Valencia Region (2,445)
  • 2,168 in Galicia (2,281)
  • 2,159 in Aragón (2,372)
  • 2,008 in Navarra (2,209)
  • 1,859 in the Basque Country (2,051)
  • 1,761 in Extremadura (1,870)
  • 1,718 in Asturias (1,863)
  • 1,710 in Castilla y León (1,844)
  • 1,513 in the Balearic Islands (1,663)
  • 1,407 in La Rioja (1,496)
  • 1,210 in Castilla La Mancha (1,325)
  • 1,004 in Madrid (1,059)
  • 649 in the Canary Islands (689)
  • 591 in Andalusia (567)
  • 1,325 in Ceuta (1,489)
  • 1,156 in Melilla (1,307)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 3 February) show that Spain has administered 90,715,373 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 38,316,906 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 80.8% of the total population. A further 22,274,057 ‘booster’ jabs have also been administered.
